Pregnant and school

Published

Hi,

I'm entering into my second year in RN program and have just found out I am pregnant. I will be having baby halfway through the year. Has anyone gone to school w/ newborn? I'm a little stuck as I have busted my behind to get where I am.

I might be in your boat soon. We don't want to wait until I am done (as we aren't getting any younger) and so I'll be trying to time it for summer when I won't be taking any classes. I have known several students who have done it. Sure it's hard, but nursing school is always hard.. so is having a newborn. Everyone is different so while it is possible for some, for others it isn't. Congrats on both making it to this point and for the upcoming baby. Good luck!

Thanks for the encouragement! And good luck with trying!

I'm 37 weeks pregnant and in my 2nd semester (4 semester program). I'm fortunate enough to be due toward the end of the semester so I will just have to go back for lecture/exams and then will have Christmas break off. I've doubled up on my clinical rotations so that I would have my time in should I deliver early. I've worked my tail off to get all my case studies/presentations done early and am so blessed to have instructors willing to let me. While it wasn't ideal, it's doable as long as you're willing to put the work in, have flexible instructors, and a healthy pregnancy. Good luck to you...you can do it!!

I went to school up until two days before my baby arrived, she is currently three months old and I start up again in January. Don't give up! You have worked this hard to get where you are, if anything continue on for that precious baby.
