Many pregnant nursing student posts were rather outdated, so I figure I'd start my own! ??
I'm 24 and in an accelerated BSN program. This is my first child and I'm due in the second semester of my program. I have support from family and my fiance. I'm super nervous, but excited. I figured there's no "right time" to have a baby: I'll probably be in school between the ages of 20-30 since I plan on going to graduate school, so I'm going to make the best of this situation.
I've let my program know of my pregnancy, thus far they seem to be supportive and non-judgmental.
How have your experiences being pregnant while in nursing school been? My main concern is developing complications that would put me on bed rest ? *fingers crossed*

I'm in an ADN program and there were 2 girls in my cohort that were pregnant during the first semester. One of them gave birth after our second exam, and the other one had her baby the week after we ended school for the summer. Since you're in an accelerated program, I would look at your syllabus and see when you have breaks, and look at your expected due date and where it coincides on the calendar. Also, you may want to talk to your faculty about making up clinical and how that works in case you go into labor early - also what would be expected of you while you're out (homework, exam, quiz, projects) and when you expect to return. I know you're worried about having to be on bed rest, so do your best to take care of yourself (I know it can be hard while working/school etc.) But getting some exercise and eating healthy can help to prevent some complications. Hopefully you don't need bed rest and the baby comes during a school break!

Even if the worst happens and you have to push pause and restart the next semester it isn't going to be the end of the world. 6 months is nothing in the grand scheme of things. ?

Hi! Late response, I just signed up for this website. I'm a new RN and I started school while I was pregnant with my first child. She was born after my 2nd semester. I rejoined the next cohort and graduated this past December! My classmates were supportive and the school was as well. I hope you and baby are doing well!
