Hi Des11283,
During my last year of nursing school we had 5 pregnant women and 1 guy whose wife was pregnant too. All of them graduated this May, so it can be done. Some delivered during breaks we had or over weekends, we had one they went into labor during clinicals. They also had a lot of help from our instructors/advisors/mentors, who were willing to help them with doctors appts and making up clinical hours. I would recommend talking to your advisor or a teacher that you trust if your concerned.
Take care and best of luck, Shannon:)
Congratulations on your pregnancy!
I have had many students go through our program expecting a baby. Most of them progress without problem and complete the course work as scheduled.
Occasionally we have a student who has a complicated pregnancy - for one reason or another they are put on bedrest, or have a restriction for lifting or some other restriction - those students have to drop out for obvious reasons.
Work closely with your doctor/midwife in deciding what is safe for you and your baby.
I was pregnant during my last semester of nursing school. We were allowed to miss one clinical day and I was determined to save mine until I needed it. We graduated nursing school on Dec. 11, My son was born C-section Dec. 4. I never missed aclinical, took my final Dec. 10 and attended graduation!! When I went back for my BSN I became pregnant also. Was to graduate in Dec 2003. Baby was due in Feb 2004. Well the little stinker came early. He was a 26 weeker preemie born Nov.6. After a roller coaster month, and we thankfully got to the point where we knew he would live, I busted my ass (mainly to take my mind off of NICU life for a few hours) and graduated in December. My instructors were awesome! I was too close to let it go. I didnt attend that ceremony, was perfectly happy to be in the NICU with Sam. He came home in January and is a perfect. You can do it!!

Hi! I just found out that I'm about 4 wks pregnant. I'm currently taking community health over the summer and i will be graduating this year in December. I will probably be about 4 months pregnant when I start my preceptorship this September. Has anyone done this? Is this risky?
Thanks!
