I know there's a million threads about being pregnant in nursing school ... But I still can't find my answer. I will be due in feb 2015 about 4 weeks into my 3rd semester of nursing school. I'm just curious if anyone was pregnant and delivered in the middle of a nursing semester (an actual nursing semester not pre reqs) and how soon you returned to class. Taking a semester off is not an option for me. So if you did deliver how soon did you return to class (or please tell me what your schools policy is on having a baby and returning back to your program). I'm hoping that I have a healthy pregnancy and can return immediately after delivering and I'm interested in your experience doing this. Thanks!!! Oh, we have a 2 day policy (we can only miss 2 days then were out) did your school have a policy like this for expectant moms?

Not me, but we had a gal in our first semester of nursing classes who had her baby during the semester. She returned 3 days after she gave birth We are permitted to miss a max of 2 clinical days and as for lab days we'd receive demerits even if we make up the lab. (Anyone with 10 points is out...I think making up a lab scores you 2 points, 5 if you miss entirely and don't make it up, so if you have competencies to pass you are really pushing your luck!)
Congratulations!! And good luck, I hope everything works out for you :)
Thanks. That's similar to my program!!!

We have a classmate who delivered her baby on a Wednesday and was back in class by Monday. I still call her Wonder Woman, even though it was last fall. If you've got a good support system at home, you can get through it. However, keep your options open. If your program gives you the option of taking a semester off and joining the cohort behind you in the Fall, I would recommend doing so, especially if this is your first child.
Actually something crazy happened.. My husbands work transferred us to another state so I had to withdrawal from the nursing program I was in and I won't start again until sept 2015.... So I won't have to worry about this now! But thanks for the response:)
