Can someone please tell me how to go about finding a preceptor other than the usual "Googling" then calling around??? I've done that, asked around, and no one is able to help me! I'm worried that I may not find anything by the time classes start in 2 weeks! I've also tried going with my local NP organization, but to no avail...... I'm open for any and all suggestions!!! Thanks!!

Yep, did my undergrad at another school, in another city......I dont really know any alumni who are practicing NP's now.......hmmm.....I'll ask around though, thanks!!

I didn't really know any alumni either, nor if there were any NPs because my school didn't have an undergrad nursing program, but my school had an "alumni association" with contact information for everyone. I was able to call the alumni association and they put me in touch with an NP preceptor that was 5 min away from me! Who knew! Your school most likely at least has an alumni association...potentially worth a shot!

I have a different situation--I found a preceptor. She is a new MD with a family practice. The situation is that she does not have many patients. She is not busy. This is why I think she was willing to precept me and I am thankful for this. However, I just do not see much. We had 3 patients yesterday but I was with her the entire day. I learn alot from talking to her but how can this qualify for clinicals?

I found that newer NP's and MD's are much more willing to precept so you might try this, but they may not have their business built up yet.
