pre reqs difficulty

How much time did you spend trying to get As in your pre req? How many hours a day did you put into studying a day? How many classes did you have a semester? Do you have any time management tips that i could do. Is it do-able for an 18 yr old. Was a C student in high school. Has no job doesnt really go out so wont be partying during school, but gets distracted very easily when it comes to school.

JonB04,

I am someone who did rather poor in HS. I didn't care enough to put the effort in. Getting "A's" is work and that is what it takes my friend. However, balance is "KEY". I have returned back to school after several years and I maintain a 4.0 gpa, belong to Phi Theta Kappa, member of Multicultural club (diversity), and I am married with a son and another on the way. Here are some tips that I think you may find valuable.

You say you get distracted easily. I find that one of the best ways to stay focused is to study at the college library. Additionally, I will change it up a bit and study in other locations as well. You can over study! Make sure that you allow yourself breaks during your study time. You need to give yourself a chance to stop thinking for a minute, get up and stretch, look at an object far across the room ( to help with eye strain) and get a cup of coffee or something. Another thing that I do is for every class that I am allowed I will record the lecture portion. I will go back and listen to the lecture again while looking over my notes making sure that I did not miss any important details.

Other things that you should try to incorporate into your schedule is a time to workout and a time to just relax. Make sure you spend some time with family and friends. Make them aware of your busy schedule and that when you are studying that you must focus on that, but a little break with family and friends once in awhile will help you to keep your sanity and help you through the hard times. I will study while I workout. LOL I will walk and listen to my recordings at the same time.

Another thing that I tell fellow classmates ALL the time is don't wait until the last minute to study and prepare. A lot of students wait until the night before to prep for an exam. Sometimes it will get you through the exam with an ok good, but rarely will you retain anything. It is a long steady race my friend not a sprint at 3am. Which brings me to my next point. Try and make sure you eat well and get planty of sleep. These two things play a BIG part in getting good grades.

I hope that this can be of some help to you. I am very anal and I have to get an "A" in every class. I will study as much as it takes to get the grade that I want. However, I try and always use the practices that I have mentioned above. This way I can try to avoid burnout, increase retention of information, and enjoy the ride along the way. Good Luck!!!:):)

Thank you so much this is valuable information
