Pre Nursing

Hello! :) I am currently finishing off my last pre-reqs to get into nursing school. Overall, these science classes are quite intense and challenging. With that being said though, you do learn a lot! Which is great because college is the time for maturity. :) Anyhow, I will say that being a science major probably takes up more of your free time than a liberal art major. I might be wrong, but I think that in science you have to make sure you are understanding every concept, because if you miss something in the previous chapters you'll be confused and behind in the next chapters. Therefore, it's important to study everyday, becuase you can't afford to procasinate. It's not like some other classes, where you can study the day before and ace the test, or make up an answer. Furthermore, I would also consider the lab portion as an additonal class.

When I am in school, I don't have much free time throughout the week. My days go by very quickly, but I enjoy the busy package :) With the right studying habits and time managing though, you should be able to have most of your weekends off though:) .I know that in nursing school, there's a lot more material to be covered, and you'll have to do clinical hours. I find such experience quite exciting though. Most of the time, I feel extremely energized and happy to be where I am. I guess such feeling comes from the fact that I am doing what I love and staying busy. Yes there are days where I feel dissapointed and get pesimistic(espcially when I haven't gotten enough sleep lol) but it's like everything. In the end, it all pays off!

I really recommend you finishing off Chemistry, and take any general Bio course before you take A&P. You'll grasp the material much better having some sort of science foundation. I also recommend that you get some sort of hospital experience or shawdow a nurse. Best of luck !

Well I've known I wanted to be a nurses since I was in 8th grade. I have know idea how I came up with it. It just came to me. I am now finishing up my last pre requisite and have already applied for the program. I was an average student in high school. I had mostly B's and C's with a D here and there. But then in my junior year I changed and started earning A's and B's with a couple of C's. The next year I went back to my old habits and was an average student again.

I attend a community college and during my first semester I overwhelmed myself with classes because I found out if I had taken A&P that semester, I could apply for the program. I ended up dropping A&P, getting a D+ in one class, and 3 B's. The next semester I took too many classes again and got 2 C+'s, a B-, and a W for dropping another class. Then during the summer I realized that my gpa was a 2.4 and I need a 2.7 to even apply for the nursing program and I told myself I had to get A's. So I retook A&P and a math class and got an A- in both. Then I started to tell myself "If I had just given it my all I probably could've had better grades, even if it was a lot of classes" So during the winter semester I retook psychology and got an A- (I was .2 away from an A) and now my nursing gpa is a 3.24. I'm hoping and praying that I get into the nursing program I applied to.

My advice is to give it your all in the beggining. No half steppin. Then you won't have to worry about getting into a program like I am lol.
