I need to hear some stories or experiances from those of you outhere that moved to another state Just to attend nursing school. Did you regret it, miss your family? Or was it worth it in the end? Please let me know... As I'm considering a move from CA to NM just for nursing school and want to know... Is it worth it?

Happiness that is great news. I'd say you definitely made the right decision. With only 9 months left you'll be done before you know it and working as a nurse.

I myself can't afford to move during nursing school. I do plan on moving once I graduate only because of the shortage of pedi hospitals willing to hire new grads in my area. I still have about 5 years left for nursing. Working full time nights is crimping my study plans but I'll get there eventually. It's a crawl not a sprint!

I moved from South Carolina to Buffalo, NY. It was worth it to me, giving some distance between you and your family can be a good learning experience. I have no family here, and the closest is 8 hours away. It takes some time to adjust to being alone, but it gives you an excellent opportunity to meet new people, and for me, I started to become friends with people I never would have talked to before. Moving to a different state offers you the chance to expand your horizons. I don't think that college students should go to school close to home (I bet thats going to change when my kids start looking at college LOL) but whats the fun in staying near home....go out, explore, have fun, and don't forget to study (wow I hate that word haha)

I'm moving from the south (ATL) to upstate NY too (near Rochester). I'm originally from NY (the Bronx) but the only thing I fear is can I get use to the cold again :bowingpur I know its a sacrifice being away from my kids and husband but he was away for 11 years in the miltary and raised the kids BY MYSELF so one year is not going to kill him to take care of the kids while I'm at school. I hope it goes quick. I've heard horrible stories about the town my school is located in but I'm gonna make the best of it and like you said try and make new friends.
