ABSN without BA/BS

Hi,

I have an A.S.S in business Admin and have completed about 90 college credits. I am currently working on nursing pre reqs for the fall and I am trying to get into a accelerated BSN program, but i realize that most programs require a BA or BS

That's what I understand the accelerated program to mean, going from a Bachelors to a Bachelors. I have two Associate's degrees as well and never was offered an acceleration program even though I have a zillion credits.

No worries, at least we have some of the GE stuff out of the way, right? :)

haha thats not the answer I wanna hear. The has to be an accelerated BSN program that also accepts non BA/BS students

UNLV has a primary BSN program that is accelerated - its still 4 semesters but you go straight through the summer. I believe its about 16-18 mos total. There may be other BSN programs out there that do the same thing. You just need to find one that does not take the summer off, and voila! you have an "accelerated" program.

I guess 16 months isnt tooo bad, but anything more than that isnt truly accelerated.

*shrug* about 22 calendar mos is standard if you do fall-spring- summer off - fall-spring. Technically, anything less is accelerated. Considering 4 mos or so is the standard semester length, a BSN program is about 16 mos of instruction. I am not sure you will find a program that compresses the curriculum any further than that without already having a BS/BA in something.

One of the reasons the compacted 12 to 15 mos accelerated programs are intensive and compacted is b/c the students have "proven themselves" by completing a 4-yr program in a different discipline.

My best suggestion is to just start looking at BSN programs and find the ones that go straight through without a break. That is probably about as accelerated as you may find.

Someone may know of one, but I have not heard of any. Good luck in your search.

hmm Have you attended UNLV? Would you say its a competitive program to get into?

I have not. I have looked into it b/c we are 90% likely to be moving to Vegas next year. Its one of several nursing programs in the city so I don't know if it is cutthroat due to the other options. I assume its competitive but not super-competitive. It is cheaper than a couple of the other BSN options in Vegas, one being Touro, which I think also goes straight through without a summer break.
