Pre-Nursing School Anxiety

So I start my accelerated BSN program on Jan. 9th. I'm very excited, blessed that I was accepted into the program, and ready to learn more about the human body. As the days go by, I notice that I have this feeling of anxiety hanging over me, as well as, these questions: Will I make it through? How do I study for NCLEX while studying for all my other class? What if I fail a class? The grading scale is heightened! Etc. I'm trying to prepare not only my mind, but my body as well before I start. Due to my high anxiety, before any major changes happen in my life I always go through a period of depression or worry or whatever you may call it. I'm a hard worker, I pray daily, and I do over think. I'm passionate and dedicated to something I want especially knowing it will create a better life for me. If anyone is reading this basically I'm asking for positive advice, words of encouragement, any tips for class, even any favorite scriptures or quotes you would like to share. Please feel free to comment if you have had similar worries. Yet, feel free to express your stories of completion.

Sounds as if you're a natural "Awfulizer"... anticipating the worst outcome from any situation. Check THIS & THIS out - it's really a thing. Although you can't effectively change your personality, I think you can temper it with self-awareness. Those links also have some exercises that may be helpful.

Thank you so much!

I will be applying to accelerated programs soon and hope to get in. I also have same fears from time to time. I do know I am capable of handling the toughest of classes but having 18 credits each semester plus clinicals on top of that sends me into a whirlwind of anxiety. For this very reason I feel like I should be taking it slowly; which is why I will also be applying to regular generic BSN programs. All I can say try to calm your nerves down and just believe in yourself. Study hard and put all your efforts forward to succeed. Have this final goal in mind, GET THROUGH THIS AND GRADUATE, THEN PASS NCLEX AND GET HIRED!
