Pre-employment hiring process

Hi ,

I got hired at a nursing home. Everything except the background check is done(like physical exam, PPD, drug test etc..) Anybody know how long will the criminal background check takes?

It really depends on your state and district. Where I live it takes a week. other places it takes two or more. I thing it also depends what level the background check is, for example I need a level 2 check because I work in a school.

Thank you. Do I need to call the HR and check on the progress or should I wait?. I had called them 3 days before and she told she will call me back.. I am sorry, this is my first job, I don't know how these work..

A pre-employment background check was conducted on me about three months ago. The process took seven business days, not including the weekend. However, my new employer utilized HireRight, a background checking company that is so thorough that the experience has turned nightmarish for some prospective employees.

Most 'normal' background check companies can complete the process in a few days.

Today I got call from the HR tht they got the report. Thank you for the replies.
