Hi there.. I'm a CNO a Nursing Staffing Agency.. and we are moving into markets that require drug testing. We staffing Nursing Homes, so many of our markets haven't asked for Urine Drugs testing before in the past.
My Question, for you hospital travelers:
How is the pre-employment drug testing usually done?
Does your agency usually ask you to complete this test within a certain period of time? (when you accept the shift? Right before you start the shift?)
Thanks for your guidance!

This is a travel forum, so we are tested before our assignment starts. If you are running a registry, I would think once a year drug screen would be sufficient. Before each shift would be rather extreme, and after a shift is a bit late. In any case, what the facility wants is what you should do as I don't think the opinion of contingent staff would hold any weight. As travelers, we are sometimes tested every three months when moving to a new facility, again, depending on what they want.
