After being contacted by a nurse recruiter for a job opening I was asked to take a skills assessment. I was given 30 minutes to answer 50 questions online .. Long story short, I only made it just past half way through before I ran out of time! Did I just blow my shot at this job? I clam up when it comes to test taking and I re-read each question just to be sure I didn't make a silly error and now Im afraid it cost me my shot at an awesome job opportunity.
Have any of you had any experience with a similar situation? What was your outcome?
Thanks in advance!

If the items were all 'forced choice' Multi Choice, T/F, etc' the time allotted is about right. Items that require typing (free text, short answer) require more time.
I would be questioning the reliability and validity of the exam - or ANY "test" that is used as an employment selection tool. If it is a standardized test developed by a nationally credible organization - they will have done all their 'homework' because there are very strict Federal rules that have to be followed. If it's 'home-grown', they should be able to provide you with statistical information on all of the reliability & validity measures. It should have also been tested for adverse selection - to ensure it does not have any bias (positive or negative) in terms of protected classes of applicants.
If you did bomb it, will they let you re-take?

I would just call them back. Thankfully, employers, recruiters and head hunters are more "real life oriented" as I like to call it.
I would call the recruiter and ask to retake. It's not like all the employees that were highered were/are perfect. I am sure this is not the first time this scenario has occured.
Good luck!
