Praise the Lord i passed!!!

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

hello everyone! ive been a lurker for the longest time! and now i can shout to the whole world with gods grace i passed nclex! pvt is indeed true! i took nclex march 29 for the 2nd time. im a nurse here in the philippines. i finished with 75 questions. i really thought i failed and i didnt even have the guts to do the pvt. i was about to feel depressed. after 1 1/2 day i wanted my agony to end so i did pvt. lo and behold! i got the famous pop up! my anxiety went a bit down but i still have jitters until i see the quick results. after 2 days, i finally got my quick results and i passed! thank you lord. i actually cried after knowing si passed because i worked hard for it. and i bring back all the glory and praise to my lord. one lesson i learned is never ever doubt your faith. the night before my exam i was praying to the lord and i was pouring my heart and i prayed to him and i felt that without i doubt i know ill pass the exam this time. but after taking the exam i really thought i was going to fail. but god is good all the time! he answers your prayers yes, but always remember that he answers it at the right time.

my verse that kept me going the whole time is "i can do all things through christ who strengthens me" philippians 4:13. i posted this verse on my wall and everytime i feel down during the entire review, i just read this and it keeps me going.

i didnt attend any review plan because i didnt have the money to pay for them. i just did self review. i used saunders 4th edition and la charity book. the la charity book is a must for all takers. my study plan was i read the whole saunders. i made important notes on all diseases and meds and procedures and i posted them on my wall. imagine my whole room was filled with notes!!! hehe i didnt read the medications chapter, i skipped it because id be overwhelmed if ill study it. what i did was i looked for top 100 drugs in the us and those are the meds that i studied only. after reading the whole book. i started answering questions on saunders cd, probably 100-130 qeustions per day. after answering each question it is important to read the rationales and i take down notes whenever i dont understand and im not familiar with the rationale. id review the notes i made to make sure i remember and understand them. i also did la charity book, one chapter per day approximately 2 weeks before my exam. i only did the first part of la charity because the last part was hard. it took me 4 months to prepare. i started reviewing december 1 2009 and i finished march 26, 2010. i took my exam march 29. it is important that you have a structured plan during your whole review.

and dont be discourage when you get low scores when answering la charity. i also did get low scores. i was like getting 40-50% on the first few chapters. the important things about the la charity book, is it teaches you how to answer, prioritization questions. and also the delegation questions. if not for that book i wouldnt have answered the prioritization and delegation questions in my nclex exam.

i didnt also have the guts to do the q trainer of kaplan, because i dont want to disaappoint myself if i get low scores. i want to take the exam with high morale thinking i can do it. rather than taking it with low morale all because the q trainer says i have low scores.

the most important thing about nclex, everyone should remember this, is you should know your content! forget about test taking strategies, you dont need them if you know the answer to the question. with the nclex questions, its either you know it or you dont. and when answering questions, always eliminate choices. dont just immediately look for an answer, it will save you!

and it is important that 1-2 days before the exam, stop studying! your brain needs to rest. the day before the exam, i had a massage, i went to the mall, i had manicure and pedicure and i made sure i was in my best shape during the exam.

most importantly, for all those who have faith, pray to the lord for guidance. i wouldnt have done this whole ordeal without him. and with this wonderful blessing he has given me, i bring him back all the glory and praise! thank you jesus!

for all those who failed so many times, i also failed too my first try, so dont be discouraged. and if anyone needs my help and tips, im very much willing and glad to help. im just a message away.

and thanks also for this site! it helped me a lot! thanks everyone!!!

my saunders scores were ok. i had low 40s and i also had high 90s on different chapters. my weak chapters were cardio endocrine and neuro. if i may suggest, try using la charity book. it really helps. God bless you in your next exam!

i had like almost all subjects, ob, neuro, psyc, nutrition, tons of meds, lots of endocrine, and the usual prioritization, infection control and delegation, i had more than 5 satas and 1 computation
