They will love you!! The only thing that can be difficult is pediatric patients. its hard to believe but psych hospitals are becoming dumping grounds for bad or lazy parents. There were 8 year old kids already institutionalized!!! Watching kids being chemically restrained because they have been "bad" when its just a bad parent was awful. Some of these kids would be in the hospital for weeks and weeks and no hugs no encouragement no visits and no genuine love and affection. The adult patients were the former peds patients. The hospital was home to them. It still is you and will find many repeat admits same people who are there constantly no matter what. the doctors are worked hard and they use many residents. it will be a challenging first job for you as a new grad.
