Practice vs Performance

I work at VA and I am writing my self evaluation and is it hard to me to realize the difference between Practice and Performance. Please help me with some examples.

Practice is what you do and performance is how well you do it.

As a preceptor (practice) I oriented 10 (performance) new nurses to the unit.
