PPD Test while on Travel Assignment

Published

I'm on my first assignment and accidentally let my PPD test expire. Where should I go to get one? I called the employee health department at my current contract but they do not administer to travelers. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Any occupational health office would be the easiest. Faster than a primary care doc or similar. It is possible that Labcorp/Quest will do them too - if so, get a script from a friendly doc.

I would recommend getting a script for Quantiferon Gold instead of PPD. A simple blood test only requiring one trip, good for one year with a current TB questionnaire, no need to do another two step for your next assignment in 90 days. It is also more accurate than a PPD, not that anyone seems to care yet. PPD is cheaper for the hospital so it will be around for a while even though it is obsolete.

Specializes in PACU, pre/postoperative, ortho.

For nursing school, I used the county health dept. Quick & easy.

Thanks for the responses!
