Post military going to nursing school?

Published

How good does military experience look on a nursing school application? I am currently a x-ray tech in the Air Force, but have always wanted get into nursing. Seeing as how I probably wont be reenlisting when my time comes and getting out and going back to school for nursing instead.

I will have 6 years military service, 5.5 being x-ray (14m of that being school for it), national registry in x-ray from ARRT, and possibly registered in CT or Ultrasound as well if the opportunity presents itself.

Currently I am essentially down to taking A&P, Chem, Microbiology,College Algebra and Stats as my only pre-reqs or Nursing School. However my GPA in those classes will not be as high as I wish probably due to having to balance them along with the schedule and unpredictability of the military.

Could my military experience combined with professional certifications help offset a slightly lower GPA (probably will be around a 3.25-4)
