post-interview anxiety!

Nurses General Nursing

I was blessed enough to interview for a PACU position at a magnet hospital near home last week. I thought it went well, and at the end i got the "we'll be contacting you very soon" line. it's been a week, I have sent the thank you cards the day after, and even called today and left a message inquiring about the status of things. basically, I am just on edge and haven't been able to rest easy since before the interview.

Today I check the hospital's job postings online and the position I applied for has been removed!!! :crying2: what are the chances that I still have a shot at this? Do you think I would've been contacted to let me know if I wasn't chosen?

I have really been feeling called to PACU/OR. AHHHH I guess i just wanted to vent and I know you all have been in this spot before. All I hope is that I get my call returned by tomorrow and get a clearer picture of where I stand in the process.

thanks for reading my vent!

Hey Guys!

SrnD - I am a new grad, I did my senior practicum in the ED and was an EMT very briefly in the summer between high school and starting Uni in the fall... Are you an ER nurse by chance with great advice..? :)

SrnD - Basically hoping you are because I am trying to absorb as much help as I can before I go in there, I have an idea of what it will be like, I was working pretty much independently for my senior practicum over 175 hours but I still feel like Ive been smacked over the head by stuff sometimes and I am always eager to learn a new or better way of doing things. I pick stuff up quickly but thats just the thing.... even if you are a quick learner, you still need to get the info and I still have so much to learn!

I too did the wait for one job..at 2 weeks I heard nothing so made a call but was told they were too busy to talk. Then 2 days later I got a rejection letter in the mail.

Since then i have been to another interview and am in two minds about emailing them as the add is still up yet they said they would contact me by Friday gone..I have heard nothing.

Since then i have applied for a third job and am waiting to hear back to see if i get an interview.

and yes i too am suffering from the anxiety of it all and starting to feel down as well. I am applying for GP work and currently not working as a nurse and really miss it.

aw sorry, I am not an ER nurse =/ I was just wondering if you ever worked in that environment before because it seems like people love it or hate it. I get the feeling I would love it, but the ER where I work now is a MESS, and i hear it's not much better at another hospital close by. but given the right place, I think it sounds awesome.

and I totally hear you on feeling smacked over the head sometimes, lol. i, too, am a quick learner, but no one is super woman, and even fast learners need time to adjust. good luck though! i have faith you'll be wonderful in no time ;)
