Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

I just recently got my acceptance letter--anyone else out there? I was totally excited until I told my NM (who is a CNS) who told me *and I quote* "You will be an overqualified, underpaid bedside nurse because there will be no jobs for you"...

And now I have doubts...major doubts

Hello!

Just wondering how this all worked out for you?? Would you be able to fill me in?

Thanks!

I'm just about to finish my first year and while it's been tough, I am really happy with my choice. Plus, my cohort is amazing.

That is great! I'm glad you didn't actually listen to your nurse manager on this one. Would you be able to tell me some of your stats (GPA, etc) and are you doing this program through a regional campus or are you actually in SF? Thanks!

GPA was 3.9 but to be honest, they are looking for more than just GPA. Just as you are looking for something to get out of the program, they look for how students will contribute/better the program--if this makes sense. Currently the BSN-DNP program is only held on the main campus so I go up there once every week or every other depending on the semester

Thank you so much for the reply! Once every week or every other is not bad at all. What I would really like to know and forgot to ask is, how is your work schedule like, in regards to the workload of the BSN-DNP program? Are you working full time/part time? I would like to know so I can have an idea of a work-school schedule.

Thank you!

I work 40-50 hours a week and have small children. It's all about time management and prioritization :)
