Creighton DNP

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hello!

I am looking into graduate schools for BSN-DNP and Family Nurse Practitioner track. I was hoping that some of you may be able to provide me with more information regarding Creighton's DNP program - pros and cons. One thing I have very nervous about it that they do not help with clinical site placements - does anyone have more information or advice on this? I also have never done online courses so it will be a new dynamic. Any and all information is appreciated!

Jess - Sorry to hear about the accident :( Unsure about Creighton. I got in the AGPNP. How long was the orientation? I also got into Maryville U spring 2018, completely online program. I'm still deciding which program is better for. Thanks for reply. :) Thai

Thai,

Orientation was 0730-1630 I believe. I waited in line for over an hour to get drug tested right before leaving and I had to literally run across campus to get my ID before the center closed. It didn't feel very organized in that sense; because they broke you up into groups to get drug tested and mine was right at the end of the day, but the place to get your ID closed at 1630 and I was still in line to be drug tested at that time as well so someone held my spot in line while I ran across campus to get my ID before they closed. Orientation made me feel like they try to crank out as many NPs as they can. Does that make sense?

Hi everyone! I was just accepted for Summer 2018 but am deferring to Fall 2018 for personal reasons. I just have a few basic questions about the program, in particular, the Pediatric Primary and Acute Care (Dual) NP specialty. How many times are you required to go to Omaha during the duration of the program? I'm from Illinois but currently live in Tennessee so I will most likely have to fly (Nashville-Omaha) or drive (about 5 hours from my parents house) when I have to go to Creighton. I currently work a 0.75FTE on night shift, has anyone else worked around that and been able to stay sane during school? :) My plan is to take 6-9 credit hours a semester. For those of you that have already enrolled and started the DNP program, how do you feel that the program is set up? Do you find the instructors to be approachable and available? How are the online classes? Thank you for any input you have!

Please refer to my reply to Thai on October 1st.

thanks,

Jess

Thanks BSN2FNP1. Nervous to start this spring. If I want to work in a specialty clinic example cardiology or rheumatology, acute care or primary adult-geriatric is better? Or it doesn't matter?

Hey! I'm starting Spring of 18 also in the Acute care track

Hi I was going through reading comments and saw yours. I start the Acute care DNP program in Jan! When it comes to clinicals how many times did you have to make a visit to campus before the start of clinical rotations? I'm just wondering, I live in VA and I'm also active duty military! Thanks in advance!

Are you going to the mandatory orientation on Jan 9? I know for the first year is completely online. When you start health assessment and toward the end, it required to come to campus once a semester.

I'm not going to the orientation Jan 9th. It's really not "mandatory" I have already spoken to my advisor. Yes I'm aware of the on campus visits which I will be putting leave in for when the time comes around!

How long did it take for you to get an admission decision after applying? Do they send letters or email?

Within a month. No letters. Just email. Are you applying for the summer?

Yes, I just submitted my application last week for Summer start.
