Hello!
I am looking into graduate schools for BSN-DNP and Family Nurse Practitioner track. I was hoping that some of you may be able to provide me with more information regarding Creighton's DNP program - pros and cons. One thing I have very nervous about it that they do not help with clinical site placements - does anyone have more information or advice on this? I also have never done online courses so it will be a new dynamic. Any and all information is appreciated!
Hello, I am planning on applying to Creighton DNP program this summer to start next summer. Was curious about acceptance rate and what they are looking for in their students. I have researched a great amount about the program and it has intrigued me since before I went to nursing school.
I think I read in some comments here that some folks are from Minnesota. I am looking into the program at Creighton and I am from the twin cities area. I would like to know where you guys did your Clinicals at. I got accepted into another online program at Nebraska but I am having second thoughts due to lack of help finding Clinical sites.
jkenser,
I also work in MN and am glad to hear that you have enjoyed it so far as you enter your final year. Would you mind if I asked you more about your success with clinical placement sites? I work with a few people who have really struggled to find placements and then have to take LOA from work to go to ND or Iowa. I also looked into the U and was grateful for the price difference and the ability to work throughout! I am impressed you're doing it in three years and were able to stay at .8. Congratulations on almost being done!
o_lala_land,
I work in the Twin Cities but am only in the first year of the program so am not sure what I am going to do for clinical sites. I work with a few people who are in the PNP program and they have struggled a lot to find sites to do their clinical. I have a feeling I could run into this same concern even though I am doing the FNP route. I apologize that I am not able to speak from personal experience. I am sure if you have connections around the area you will be just fine (I unfortunately do not). I know that some hospitals around the areas already have connections set up with the U and St. Kates which decreases our chances to get clinical placements at these hospitals/clinics as well. When talking with someone from Creighton they did say that MN (twin cities area specifically) can be difficult to find placements and that they have run into this problem before - they also said that if you are willing to drive a couple of hours then students are usually able to find something.. not ideal by any means if that is the case
