Hi: I Just Started Lpn School And I Am Think About Quiting Already. My Instructor Is So Negative! She Says Thing To Embarass You And Make You Feel Stupid. She Talks About Other Students Behind Their Backs And She Has Used Profanity In Our Clinical Meetings Not Swearing At Us But Just In General. I Think She Is Very Unprofessional. My Whole Clinical Group Does. She Needs To Retire. I Think The Program That I Am In Is Not Very Good. This Is My 3 Rd Month And I Have Given About 6 Inj Done 3 Dressings And I Have Passed Meds A Total Of 1 1/2 Weeks. Oh Ya I Did A Supp. Is This How It's Supposed To Be? Everything Is So Quick Just When You Learn Something You Move On. This Is A 10 Month Program. My Worry Is That I Will Get Out And Not Be Prepared. I Want To Be A Good Nurse And Be Prepared. The School Keeps Telling Us They Are The Best Lpn School In The U.s. (kansas City Area) Also If You Know Anything About A Subject(medical) By Experience And You Voice That It Is Almost Held Against You.is This How It Is?

I did a very different program (RN/BSN) so I'm not familiar with LPN programs. BUT no, all the gossip, backbiting, and cruelty is not how it's supposed to be. However, if it's only 7 more months... well, you might as well get through it. You still have to take the LPN NCLEX, and while opinions differ on whether that indicates your fitness for the profession or not, it's not like they can just teach you nothing and throw you in there. You'll have a practicum, right? You'll get TONS of hands-on experience with whatever you're looking for.
Btw, this area is for school nurses, not nursing school. Try posting under one of the student forums, and you'll have a lot of people more equipped to answer your questions thoroughly!

I'm in a RN program and I have found that the instructors are not very kind, I will admit in some cases they have aright to be aggravated but there is a fine line between being Rude and Nasty and being ticked off because, a student should have knowledge over a particular subject.
I have had to call my instructor aside and put her in her place (sort of speak). Didn't get nasty or anything but, I did question her- of course that made her even more nasty, but the next day she was very sweet and has been ever sense with the exception of getting on me when I failed to be knowledgible.
What I have learned and what I will pass on to you is... THIS IS YOUR LIFE... get what you came there to get- which is to become a nurse. Don't let her or anyone deter you from your goals!
We are all stumblining fools at first- EXPERIENCE is what makes us professional... Believe me, when I sasy, I am a fool every Thursday (clinical conference) but, who cares it's an obstacle.
You will make a Great Nurse just for the simple fact that you are afraid of failing- which will enable you to work even harder.
Don't compare yourself to others- they are just as scared as you are- Go head with your bad self and DO IT- 7 more months to go (stop counting and just get to it!)
