Positive drug screen

Published

Hey everyone...I am new to this forum but need some advice. I have been enrolled in TPAPN for 22 months and yesterday got called at work that I had a positive drug screen for meperidine. My employer did a conference call with my case manager and myself and ultimately I was told I couldn't work. I have not used any narcotics in 2 years. My employer and the doctors that I work for are supporting me but it seems like the board automatically assumes I'm guilty. I requested an MRO yesterday and he called me and was a complete jerker. He point blank said you're positive now it's up to the board. What do I do now?? I have been doing everything just like I'm supposed to and it's all falling apart again for no reason. Please help

I'm so sorry. That's awful and terrifying. :( Does this mean the MRO is not going to run a GC/MS on the sample?

Update, I've spoken with Recovery Trek and my case manager twice today. I have requested a repeat screen on the original specimen which is going to cost me $150. It still didn't sound promising. Apparently there were metabolites for meperidine in the specimen. I'm sure most won't believe this but I truly have no idea how I could have a positive specimen. Anyway, after talking with my case manager if this specimen comes back positive I will be dismissed from TPAPN and referred back to the board. So frustrating.

Quite frustrating. Try and hang in there. Keep us posted.

I have heard of split screens second sample being negative. Ask for a hair test. I would pay for what ever test to show that I didn't use.

Hopefully it will be negative

Keep us updated on split test result.

Well finally got the split results today (only bc I kept badgering them) and they say it's still showing positive. So, as of now I'm dismissed from TPAPN and notification is being sent to the board. Roller coaster here I come.

So sorry this is happening to you. Is there a way they can do hair follicle testing? Can anyone say what can possibly give you a false positive for meperidine. This is what scares the crap out of me. Doing everything right and then this. Keep us posted and good luck to you!
