Portage Online Learning for Anatomy & Physiology

Published

I was recently accepted into Nursing School and I am considering taking my A&P's online through Portage to get them out of the way before fall. I would love to hear from anyone who has done this. What I have seen has been really mixed reviews.

My question is-did you feel you were able to complete the program with a full understanding and at your own pace?

Also, did you feel after taking the A&P online that you were as prepared as the other students in clinical?

Thank you in advance for all of your help!!

Hi,

I just finished my A&P 1&2 through Portage. I am not in nursing school yet, but I have taken multiple anatomy and physiology courses before so I don't think it was as necessary for me to "get" much out of the classes. I completed both courses within three weeks or so. You do get a unique opportunity with having a full year to complete it, but I honestly think a month or so would be more sufficient

Hi, I'm looking into it too. I have two small kids so really need a flexible schedule. Am I correct in assuming it is totally self paced? How do the assessments work? Do you decide when you are ready to take a quiz?

Hi! Is this class accepted by the reading hospital? I heard through the grapevine that if I am accepted into the program they will not accept any additional classes from RACC? I was hoping to take AandP II in the fall because I already have all of Reading Hospital's fall courses completed. Thanks!

I'm not an expert by an any means, but what I've been told by local schools is that as long as it is regionally accredited your'e ok. You should write to your specfic schools and ask if an online lab course is acceptable

Thanks for your input everyone. @xMrsLee-I actually ended up paying for A&P I through Portage Online and a day later found out that while RHSHS used to transfer these credits in, they no longer do since they are working with Alvernia on dual admissions. I was able to get a refund and it looks like I will be taking A&P I and II at RHSHS. They did transfer in 4 of courses from RACC including 2 psychology courses, a sociology, and an English composition.
