How many of you parents have decided to go into nursing due to having a child with medical issues?

Are you willing to share your experiences?

Just curious...:D

Specializes in ICU.

We go to Boston Childrens Hospital.

Anyone else?

I really expected to see more parents directly influenced by medically needy children.

I pray that each and every one of us is able to find peace and balance while we study, and after we reach the other side!

Specializes in Emergency Room.

My niece was very badly injured in softball. I was there the last time she hemmoraged (sp?) and the nurses panicked and backed away. I held a vomit bin underneath her mouth as she projectile vomited blood and insisted the go call her doctor. -- they did and he took her immediately into surgery.

When I saw their panic and my calm, I knew I could do this. I start this Fall.

I wish you all the best with your little ones and their health. :redbeathe

Specializes in DOU.

My daughter has epilepsy. I can't say this was a major factor in my decision to go to nursing school, though.
