PointClickCare

Published

Hi All - thanks for reading my post. We're looking at PointClickCare for our facility. However there doesn't seem to be much choice out there. What are some drawbacks for using PointClickCare?

any feedback would be much appreciated.

I worked about an year for an organization that used PCC, I liked it, it had the ability to cross communitcate info betweeen admin, staff and nursing. The company was very responsive and worked hard to be innovative, keeping up with the times, they didn't seem to settle for just something that worked. I wish my current company put as much forethought in the choice of their software.

thanks for the response. but here is my point regarding PCC, we have to fill out these forms and then enter the data again into the system? is that how it works? just seems like double effort for us. Somone mentioned there is a company that will be coming out soon with a mobile solution for LTC facilities and staff.....so basically we would walk around with these mobile things and fill our our forms on them...then simple upload all the data one time to the system. seems better...that's IF it works.

thoughts?

thanks again.

I was on PointClick at my last facility. We have Keane NetSolutions at my present facility. It is a night and day difference. Fully integrated in all aspects-no double entries. It is much deeper and richer in it's features and completeness. It seems to anticipate what we need next. PointClick looked slick, but it didn't have anywhere the depth that Keane NetSolutions has.

Dear UdonNomi,

I am not a clinician, however, I trained PointClickCare. I have to say that I have worked on other ambulatory EMR's and then with PCC and I find that PCC is greatly lacking in many areas. All of the clinicians (mostly RNs and LPNs) that I worked with complained mightly and were not impressed and felt that their company had short-changed them and cheaped out on this program. It has apparently been around since 1999 and they claim that it is integrated, however, it is not and there are bugs galore. It seemed that anytime my fellow trainers and I trained it, that new "buttons" would appear or disappear. Additionally, support did not seem to be forthcoming, but that may have been due to the fact that the company that purchased it did not purchase support, not really sure. Anyway, my bet would be to go with someone who has tried both such as the RN above b/c to me as a trainer it is all about the end user and I know that most of the end users that I taught were not happy with the program and they felt that it was just another program that Corporate was pushing off on them to make their life "easier".

when we did our search 2 years ago, we looked at pointclickcare, healthmedx, and lintech. we choose healthmedx and are extremely pleased. we made our decision at the time based on depth of the product. since then we have taken a new release of healthmedx's product and it rivals the flash we saw in the pointclick demonstration, but still has the great depth that made us purchase in the first place. so we feel that we made a great investment. the implementation was smooth and all the staff caught on very quickly. if you have any other questions about how we did our search please feel free to ask.

Thank you so much for replying guys! Much appreciated. I didn't know there were actually some choices our there. Shub33, do you mind giving me an idea on cost? are the charging you guys on a per-bed basis?

A DOC from a nother facility found a company called PhysioWorx (www.physioworx.com). Apparently they have a base product and will actually customized it base on what we want. This I think makes sense, but I want to get an idea of cost before approaching them.....I don't know if they will change us an arm and a leg for customization.

Many many thanks again.
