Point system Lonestar Cy-Fair

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi :) Can anyone tell me how Lonestar Cy-Fair gives their points to determine who gets in the program? From threads I have read I know the cut-off is around 11point something, but how do they get that number. For example if I have taken all pre-req's except speech and that one PE class. I got B's on Math and one B on A&P1. Everything else was A's. I am planning on taking the HESI after Xmas break. If I take the HESI and do well on it, will that get me up to this magic number? If anyone has any insight or info it would be much appreciated.

Also does anyone know if the HESI will be offered before the Jan 20th application period starts? I am trying to apply for the Aug '10 start date. Thanks so much and have a blessed day!

Hey!

The way I figure it, your score should work like this:

Course Completion: 4 pts

GPA (A&P II, English I, Gen Psych): 4 pts

HESI: x/25

------------

4 + 4 + (x/25) >or= 11.4

Meaning, all you really need is a minimum of an 85% on the reading portion of your HESI and a 70% on the math, and you should definitely be competetive!

I know Moco opens up the HESI during the LVN application period, which starts sometime this month, so you could definitely take it earlier there!

Good luck! I think there's a score sheet you can print out in the documents section of the nursing page so you can check my math!:specs:
