I used Nurses Guide to Clinical Procedures by Jean Smith-Temple and Joyce Young Johnson.

When I say "used", I used it mostly as a comfort to have if I needed it. Each facility should have its own policy for most procedures, and it is probably wiser to conult this document. It is also understandable for a new nurse to ask for help the first several times.

there is a little book called RNotes. it has procedures, lab vales etc. and it has wipe off sheets, (with alcohol swabs) that you can if you have the time that is, to fill in with your PT specific info. it is about $30 in Canada, the writer is ehren myers ISBN: 08036-1060-2. worth looking into. hope that helps.

Try Portable RN by Springhouse/LWW. It goes into more depth than RNotes.

I just ordered RN Notes to have on hand for my clinicals starting this Fall.

It was recommended by my clinical instructor. She said she doesn't make a habit of recommending books to students but felt this would be a really good investment for us even after we graduate.

Barne's and Noble had it on sale last week. I ordered mine last Thursday. It was $15 and some odd cents and if you had an order of $25.00 or more you got free shipping.

Some students in my drug calc. class looked around on the internet and said that B&N had it the cheapest, but only if you ordered it online. It was not on sale in the store. They said Amazon, eCampus.com, etc. were selling it anywhere from $21.00 up to $30.00.
