To try to put this as simply as possible,  I have family in other countries I would love to spend a month or two with through the year, leaving me gone 4 months a year . Is it possible to work as a PMHNP in telehealth in these locations for companies in the US while visiting there? I would need to work etc for sure and was wondering if anyone has any experience working abroad, not foe the countries you are "vacationing" in, but for contract work paid by US companies or something like this? Looking for any advice input on legalities, grey areas, experience,  facts etc. Thank you ! ?

I have another question relevant to this thread.  I will be getting my PMHNP license next Spring, '23.  I live in Montana and have immediate, full practice authority here.  I am from Virginia where all of my family is, and similar to a previous poster, I'd like to spend a couple of months a year there.  My unique quandary is that the practice authority in Virginia is different, requiring 2 years of supervision under a psychiatrist before having full, independent practice in Virginia.  So, would my home state licensure rules prevail?  Or how would this work to see my Montana patients while in Virginia?

If you're a permanent resident of Montana and only visiting VA couple months a year, and you're exclusively seeing patients in Montana while you're physically in VA, my belief is that you do not need to be licensed in VA. The regulations in VA doesn't apply since VA board of nursing has no jurisdiction over Montana residents.

I would check with the Montana BON about whether you need to be licensed in VA to practice telehealth while you're physically in VA (any cross-state licensing requirements), although https://www.cchpca.org/ doesn't have anything specific about it, meaning that most likely there is no such requirement.
