PLU elmsn 2015

Published

Hey everyone! I know it's a little early, but I'm wondering if anyone is applying to the PLU elmsn program to start in 2015.

We could use this forum as a place to communicate and support each other through this process!

I am so ready to get things rolling. PLU is my first choice, so hoping this year is my year!

Is there anybody else here who accepted? I know of about 6 from this board and the Facebook group.

Hi all,

Still trying to decide on my future...anyone know if its feasible to commute? If not the first year because of a full class schedule is it possible to commute second year? I've tried to set up an appointment to chat with PLU but am having trouble getting a response from anyone.

Duhfeenah, how far do you live from PLU? My commute is going to be about 45-60 min but I figure it is only for about year or so. There are several factors to consider whether to commute or relocate. So there is no definite answer. I am not sure how visiting PLU or communicating with the staff can help you to get to your answer. Please add more details if you are misunderstood.

Good luck!

Woops! I live in Seattle. I want to ask the staff what the schedule is like for the two years, and then what my schedule could be like if I did the DNP to see if it's feasible to still live in Seattle.

@duhfeenuh - I have been commuting to both work and school for the past two years, my drive being approximately an hour. Granted it's not into Seattle (that traffic can be crazy). Also, I wasn't taking a full course load, so nursing school will obviously be much more intense and add much more stress as compared to the responsibilities I've had while commuting.

I will tell you that you CAN make it work. I was taking my prereqs while commuting and I would record myself asking questions and answers and quiz myself while on my drive. That's two hours of studying time each day! Also I now have quite a few podcasts that I enjoy listening to on my commute and I tend to treat myself with a nice iced coffee. I will say that commuting sucks - sorry - but there are ways to make use of your time in the car and you can make it work.

I hope this helps.

Hi there, anyone still waiting to hear back? Or just me :/

Hello - posting on this old post in the hopes that folks who went through the ELMSN program could answer a question: about how much time did you spend on homework in the first year? I know to expect classes and clinicals to be full-time, but what about beyond that? This information would be so helpful in deciding whether the ELSMN is manageable or the BSN is preferrable. Thanks!
