Hey everyone. I am graduating in May (WOOHOO):balloons: and I am really looking for a weekend position. I know that these shifts are kind of rare for a new graduate but I REALLY need that shift because I am planning on starting school again in the Fall. I work in the ER right now and would like to stay in this department but I am willing to change if I can get the shift. If ANYONE knows of such positions PLEAASSE let me know, I would really appreciate it.

It shouldn't be hard to find a weekend position at all. I don't know where you are but most places are begging for weekend nurses. Here in Oklahoma, most places are offering premium pay for weekend posistions.

You usually will still need to complete the orientation as a full-time job first, and I highly recommend that. And that is usually done duiring the week. If you can get the orientation done this summer, then you should be all set.

I am a new grad and work WEO. I still pick up a 12 during the week. If it is available and they feel comfortable with your skills and the staffing mix is okay you have a good chance. For me it was offered to everyone else first, but most of the girls I work with like to go out on the weekends so it worked out. I think the hardest part would be going part time as a new grad, but most places are so big on retention they will do most anything to keep you happy. Good luck!

Any of the Emory Healthcare hospitals have weekend option even for new grads and their differentials are higher than most hospitals for weekends at $9 extra per hour.
Good luck!
