Please help on Annual Evaluation

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I just have time to sit down to look through copy of my annual evaluation. When supervisor called me in last month(it was my first evaluation of my working life), I listened and didn't argue anything even I thought it was not right because I have to go back to my nursing station to start my shift. Now I'm looking for anther job and will have an interview tomorrow, new job asks me to bring a copy of evaluation of current job. In my evaluation, there are five levels" Never, below satisfactory, satisfactory, above satisfactory, exceeds." Most of items are graded" satisfactory", There is no " exceed." I don't know how to explain to the interviewer tomorrow if they asked me why it is not "exceed".

Are you a new nurse. Having all satisfactory is a fine review. You are doing your job and it seems at least your supervisors do not have any complaints about your work.

Sometimes it takes time to be able to be at a level where someone is saying your are exceeding expectations.

When you go for your interview just focus on what you have done well, and if won't hurt to even think for a minute at what you can do even a little better. We all can improve somewhere and if you are open and honest about it to the interviewer as well as yourself it is a good thing because it can mean you are growing as a nurse.

Good luck on your interview I'm sure it will go well.

You don't need anything more than satisfactory.

I actually had this question asked in an interview.. " why did you not excel in any category"?

The true answer is ... if a manager gives less than satisfactory of exceeds, they must then document to THEIR manager why.

Ain't nobody got time for that.

Best of luck on your interview! Have a feeling there is more to this story.

MVM2, you are right, thanks a lot on your inspiring input!!!!!
