hey I'm a new nurse and my year will be up in June! Yea! So I work on medsurg/tele now and I am only working days on weekends, which I love. I am interested in OB....I feel like I have gotten great experience even though its rough on med/tele and I feel a bit more confident venturing into another area. So I am looking through the few openings in the womans hospital . One is a part time day surgery position and another is a PRN antepartal....I would like to work part time or PRN at the womans hospital......because I am still working days/weekends at my current job.....I love having 4 days off but sometimes I wil pick up shifts during the week......but does anyone know anything about OB day surgery an antepartal? I think anteparal is kind of like a critical area.........does anyone work or know something in these areas? I plan on going PRN at my current job after June......I just want something part time or PRN right now in OB to get my feet wet!

I have no idea what to say as I have no experience with "OB day surgery". Our OBs usually, if needing surgery, come up to OB for recovery/discharge home and usually, unless it is something simple like a ureter stent, they stay with us overnight. I can't help you much here, sorry. Hopefully someone else can.

I also am not sure about OB Day Surgery, but I do know that antepartal care involve moms-to-be who are admitted for reasons other than delivery, like preventing premature labor for high risk pregnancies. Good luck with your ventures!
