OK here's my story. I took english 101 and due to work I had to drop and recieved a W. Then I tried a second time and work let go of some people so again I had to Drop, This time resulting in a D. So I was going to take it again this fall (online to avoid disaster) but I was advised that in my area (southern california) They do not let you take this class more then 2x. Meaning I won't be accepted into most nursing programs.
I wrote more but it somehow got deleted.
Ok, sooo... Have any of you been there done that? Have any suggestions? I'm going nuts!
Thank You!

Oh and yes I could go the trade/private route but I'd rather not if at all avoidable. I'd rather go the old(new) fashion way... CC to CSU
Thanks again. :redbeathe

I would THINK that this issue may be based on indivdual school policies, and not something that all schools abide by in general. I would contact each school that you're interested in applying and ask about that instead of generalizing the whole group of them.
Well I was going by the generalization that the counselor set. Ya that's what I have been doing since I posted. I have one maybe... and the others don't know then the rest are a straight No.

Well its not the end of the world but you may have to be more flexible. I would check all schools around you and make a list of the ones that you could possibly attend or would accept you and then just choose from that pool. If the schools you like have that policy then you just have to compromise and switch or change your major if you really want to go to those schools. Other then appealing there's not too much you can do, and I haven't heard of people having much luck with appealing things anyhow...especially when many ns's have so many many applicants :) I guess you just have to pick what matters the most to you :)
Ya... @iluvpatho Thanks... Ya I have no favorites anymore who ever lets me in is my fav. lol... and only one school in a 2 hour driving radius said it's possible to get in. Problem is they didn't sound sure... gah! So this appeal stuff... What is it that I can appeal? The NS denial? How would I go about doing that? Thanks.

I can't imagine that there isn't some way you couldn't get that class. I have seen on here that a lot of people seem to be taking online classes through a community college called (I think) Colorado Community College. Is it possible that you take it through another school, even out of state online? Or is it a problem of your school not accepting the grade, no matter if you took it or not?
I am hoping to start out in an LVN program, because the school
I am going to now does not have a straight RN. You do LVN then RN. It's two years, so really just one summer semester more then it would be to go the straight RN route. Anyway, LVN at the school around her do not require English, however I do have to have it since I am going on to RN. Is is possible to do a school like this where you can get into to LVN figure out a way to get the English class and go onto to RN? If trade school ends up being the only way you could get it, then I would suggest LVN through a community college, then RN through trade, so that you can cut down on the cost.
Keep checking into it. Surely there has to be a way. Can you test out of English? I'm not sure but I would check into that too.

You withdrew the first time, so you technically didn't complete the course. Ask if you can take it again since you completed the course once. Good luck.
@ OBplease I was told that even if I take at another school it would still count as multiple attempts.
And I wish I could test out I'm going to try to CLEP maybe...
@ mzchas... I'm seriously going to look in to that I plan to make in person appointments with the nursing counselors in the area... I'm not giving up!!!
Thank you both...
