Hey everyone!
I'm pretty new to the Colorado Springs area - my husband is stationed @ Fort Carson. I was finishing up my pre-reqs in my hometown in California, and now that I'm in CO, I'm finding that accredited nursing schools are hard to come by out here
I know Platt College has caught a lot of flack on the board, but the program is accredited now, you would finish in 3 years with a BSN, and the staff seems really nice and helpful. I am scheduled to attend next weeks informational & if I'm lucky I'll be starting in Sept...My only real fear is making that drive in the winter
anyone have anything to say about the school? Any current students care to share their experiences?
TIA

I'd advise you to get REAL answers on how much it costs and where your clinicals will ACTUALLY be, not the list of places they might be. I don't know where you can find those answers, but I've heard their placements are not what many students hoped. That would be one hell of a drive on some winter days. I-25 will close d/t accidents/blowing snow.
Also, despite their recent nursing accreditation, they are not regionally academically accredited which may affect your opportunities to further your education.

I will make sure I ask those questions at the informational - hopefully I get some straight answers.
Given the negative things people have to say about the school, I'm really at a loss. Pikes Peak CC isn't accredited, The wait list for Pueblo CC is years long, the CSUCS program seems really competitive, and who knows how long their wait list is...I really don't know what to do. Things out here are so different...I feel really discouraged
I couldn't make it to the informational last week, but I'm attending the session tonight. I'm really excited to get answers and hopefully get started soon!
Anyone else attending?
