You need to be able to function 100% independently in most offices of plastic surgeons, etc. I would highly recommend that you get some experience in a hospital or clinic first, or you may find things too overwhelming. Patients, as well as other staff, will be looking to you for advice, etc.
And most of the better jobs in the plastic surgeon's office are from word of mouth, or someone that they have worked with in a hospital, etc. and have offered the job to them. And most want patient experience.
There are hospitals that have plastic surgery clinics affiliated with them, then there are some where the doctor has his/her own office. Depends on your area.

Thanks for the input. What area of nursing should I look into first? Maybe operating room?
this is the field i want to go in. I recently had a tummy tuck and i asked my plastic surgeon if i could come work with him when i graduated and he said he would love to have me. IM SO EXCITED! i want to be in the surgery room when they do the procedures. Let me know if you find out what to do to get in.

You need to get hired by the hospital for that...........and do a full operating room orientation.

Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone can give me some information about getting a job in plastic & reconstructive surgery. I will be graduating from an accelerated program this August and I want to work in this field, but I don't know how to get into it. Does anyone know if you work directly with the plastic surgeon at their office? I don't know the process and having a hard time trying to find out. Can anyone please give me some info?
Thank You!
