For anyone out there looking for a job while in monitoring, try plasma centers! I started working at one in November and they are VERY monitoring friendly. There are no narcotics and no insurance accepted so OIG exclusion is not an issue. A lot less tasking than working at the bedside. Nurses here do physicals, arm checks, donor counseling, check labs in am, and go to donor floor for any potential reactions. Pay is good at my center. Yes you have to deal with some not so friendly donors at times but honestly nothing near what you'd get from patients/family at bedside. I have found that even though I love bedside nursing and want to eventually get back to it, this job has been great for me to be able to focus on me and my recovery.

Yup... I have heard that it is monitoring friendly. Someone I know who is on probation was hired at one of these companies.
I was really happy to get the job because I am early in the whole process so I don't even know if I am going to have narc. restrictions because I haven't been in front of board and I don't know if I will end up on OIG list so I am lucky to be here where I can work as a nurse and ride out any restrictions I may have. But man, it is NOT nursing lol. I loved working at the bedside and I really miss it but I put myself in this position so I am grateful just to have another chance.

I wonder how working at a plasma center compares to chronic dialysis.
