I am looking forward to relocating to another state. I would like to know how much experience would I need to make this transition upon graduating from the nursing program? (Taking into consideration passing the boards)

I recommend you take the NCLEX before leaving the state in which you earned your nursing degree. So much easier to get paperwork processed. Then you need to contact the state board of nursing for the next state to find out what they require. I would get at least TWO certified transcripts of my education. Make sure your driver's license, if any, is current and you know where your SS card is located. If you changed your name any time after enrolling in nursing school keep a copy of your marriage license. In fact, your SS card, driver's license and nursing license ought to be the same name if possible. Otherwise you need a documentation trail. When you accept a position they may handle all the paperwork (mine did). But that is why you need to check the BON to know what to expect. States differ. Good luck!
