In most states, your employer will report incident to the board and it may take weeks to couple of months for you to be contacted. Other readers may speak to this also. I was let go for refusing urine test (alcoholic) and called for rehab bed the next day. I self reported while in rehab and when I was contacted told to continue through the process, however I could not work until I completed all requirements the board approved rehab recommended. Your situation/state may be different but I think likely you were reported.
It may take a little longer to find a job, but you will. I was honest and upfront regarding my situation and secured job within 2-3 weeks. Keep in mind the substance abuse rate for general pubic and the nursing population is very similar and there are many of us in recovery working in nursing. I think you will find job with just a little effort.
The entire process can be stressful but you will find work. Be honest and open about things. People are compassionate and understanding and many are in the same boat or have been In the past. I would also, consult a lawyer and I don’t recommend talking to the Board without representation.

I recently was placed in probation for a positive urine alcohol screen. I'm super confused about all of this. How hard is it to get a job after such things take place? How does the drug screening work?
