Pinning ceremony

Hi guys

Just wanted to know if everyone is having a pinning ceremony. For some reason our school does not do it anymore due to students not showing up for the graduation ceremony. If we chose to have one, we have to do it amongst ourselves with no instructors or faculty there. We were told they were not to have anything to do with this. Considering what we all went through to graduate, you would think this is something they would have. Although it is too late for our class to change this, I've told the up coming class that they need to petition the school about this. From what I hear, it's a "sacred" event. Anyone ever attend one? What does it entail?

Thanks

Marlo:confused:

We have a pinning ceremony (May 13th) and graduation (May 19). The pinning ceremony is supposed to be very emotional. I'm looking forward to it, but dread the amount of work that I have to do between now & then! :)

hi i just joined this site today and i have a pinning ceremony today and do not know what to say please help

Well, I think if you could find time and money to devote to their school for 2 + years, then they could give you one night in your honor that doesn't involve the entire college, geez! I got pinned last Friday night (YAY!). It was so emotional for all of us. We all dressed up (not in our whites!) and there was a speech from our class prez & the director of the nursing program...then we watched a slidewhow that me and my friend from school put together, which you can check out on my blog (see my stats for the address). After the slideshow (I think) we were given our pins then said the Nightengale pledge and that was that. OH..and afterwards we had a reception and a meet a greet with cake, nuts and punch.

It was very bittersweet and well worth it. I cried a lot, but I'm sappy like that.:lol2: It's a special night for nursing only, and well deserved since it's the hardest program at the college. I hope you get to have one...let us know.

best. statement. ever.

Our school has a pinning ceremony a few days before the actual graduation ceremony. I haven't been to one, just heard about it. I do know that during the pinning we are supposed to wear the traditional white dress for women and all white for males, with the nursing hats ( I loves those studid little hats, they are so cute). There is something to do with lamps and "ceremonial lighting of the lamps"? I am President of my class and was told I have a part in this ceremony (they didn't tell me what, though). Just last week, I finally met the Pres. of the outgoing class and asked her what I'm supposed to do? She told me all I have to do is give a speech!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you kidding me???????????????? Anyway, since I'm an officer, we are the marshalls for this year's ceremony, so I'll get to see what it's all about.

Our school still has a pinning ceremony and it's held in high regard. It's almost expected that you will attend. I can't wait for mine!
