Pinnacle Health V.S. Milton S. Hershey

Just wondering if you have any opinions in which would be a better hospital to work at for new grads...Pinnacle Health V.S. Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Thanks!

Hershey. Better location. Better parking. Union for staff nurses. Benefits-very good. 75% off of PSU tuition for your dependents. My daughter works for Pinnacle as a tech. It is not nice where she is. Other departments are better, I am sure. If I had to choose for myself it would definitey be HMC.

Specializes in Emergency Nursing!!.
:oFrom my personal experience...I worked for Pinnacle (harrisburg) for about 5yrs. 3 yr post surgical and 2 yr in the ER. I left back in june cause of crap that was going on. another co-worker accused me of something that was not true and I had written proof that is wasn't true and management did not believe me even with written documentation. I even took it to the President/CEO and VP of HR of the hospital and they blew me off to avoid the issue altogether. I have always given 110% and in 5yrs called off only 2X's once for N/V and the other for rhabdo reaction to meds. I am very patient centered and have always had great evaluations and they still did not beleive me and took this other persons side who has been there for a mere 1.5yrs and has a history of "bad behavior" in the hospital. They are not very fair and stick up for who they want to. :angryfire Secondly, I have a friend who still works there and she hurt her back trying to catch a patient from falling (to save hospital from law suit) and gets sever pain across her shoulders. Her therapist told her not to work and management tells her she has to work and take patients as well because it is not cost effective for the unit to pay her to "play secretary" all the time, Totally against her rehabilitation efforts to get her back to optimal health. This has been going on for about 4 months already. I would defiantely choose Hershey over pinnacle knowing what I know now. There is a girl from my graduating class who took a job in the OR internship but have not heard anything from her as of yet to see if she likes it. I have some other friends who work there (HMC) and they like it. My one friend has been there about 20yrs. I graduated back in Aug. I have taken a job at Lehigh Valley Hospital Critical Care Internship for the ER and totally LOVE it and would not change for the world!
