Hi there

I just want to ask cuz im RN in the philippines with a 8 months volunteer experience and i really want to work in UK unfortunately there are lot of process to undergo.

Does the NMC approved volunteer experience cause its really hard to be a staff nurse here in my country and i heard that UK stopped hiring overseas nurses..

And someone invited to me to study-work as a health care assistant in UK but im not sure if that's the best thing to do..

Im confused ryt now and need help! Thanks..:):nurse:

I seriously doubt HCA will meet work permit requirements for the UK, there are also lots of trusts struggling so likelihood of finding a employer willing to go the work permit route will be low especially when they have to go UK EU before rest of the world.

I also think volunteer isn't accepted however not 100% sure plus I think they require 1-2 years experience.

That 'someone' has given you bad advice. When he said study and work as an HCA, that means you will be going to the UK to study and spend lots of money, for what? You might think you can work to pay for your study. Let me spare you the math. You will be spending more than what you earn. Even if you live on noodles for x amount of months. student visa in the uk only allows you to work a few hours a week. health care worker is not a nurse and any experience you gain as a hca will not be accepted by the nmc.

working while you are in the uk

during your stay, you will be allowed to:

* work part-time (up to 20 hours per week) during term-time;

* work full-time during vacations;

* do a work placement as part of your course;

* work as a postgraduate doctor or dentist (if your course of study is a recognised foundation programme); and

* be a student union sabbatical officer for up to two years.

working as a healthcare assistant

healthcare assistants can work within hospital or community settings under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional. the role can be very varied depending upon the area in which the person is employed.

working alongside nurses, for example, they may sometimes be known as nursing auxiliaries or auxiliary nurses. healthcare assistants also work along side qualified midwives in maternity services.

the types of duties include the following:

* washing and dressing

* feeding

* helping people to mobilise

* toileting

* bed making

* generally assisting with patients overall comfort

* monitoring patients conditions by taking temperatures, pulse, respiration's and weight

We have the same sentiments. I came from a polyclinic here in Saudi. I want to try my luck in UK. I just don't know if I'm qualified enough to try though.
