Hi Everyone,
I am new to Tucson and have applied to the ABSN Program at U of A. If I don't get accepted, my only back-up plan is Pima Community College. Does anyone know how long the wait-list is at Pima?
Thanks!
Congrats on getting into the program! I'd be very, very surprised if it took you that long. Do you have all of your co-reqs done? If not, work on getting those knocked out. You won't have time during 1st semester to add anything extra. You'll have more than enough on your plate with lecture, clinicals, skills, drug calc, and pharmacology. The less you have to do in the other 3 semesters the better it will be for you too.
Something to consider if you do have all of your co-reqs done, and now it's just a waiting game for you. If you want to go on and get your RN->BSN when you are done, go talk to a councilor at Pima and see what you need for the NAU transfer degree (or whichever program you want to consider) and work on knocking those out. There are 6 or 7 classes for that. You could graduate with your ADN and transfer degree at the same time.
Let us know when you actually get in. I got a 2011 start date last August but started in Jaunary. Good luck!
Thanks soupermom.....I have only 2 more co-req's scheduled for the Spring then I plan on taking 2 semesters of Spanish and then I guess I will twiddle my thumbs for a while. What happens to my student loans if I am not registered for any classes during the waiting game? Will they go into repayment or can I get a forbearance?
I worry about taking classes for the RN->BSN route now because don't most employers offer that bridge to a particular school? So if my future new employer goes through Grand Canyon and I took the transfer classes to NAU wouldn't that have been a loss? I just wish there were a universal credit transfer system to all colleges....
Soupermom, please give me a hint to how your classes are going? Good instructors? Have you had many people drop out yet?
Just a heads up for anyone waiting to get into the PCC Nursing Program. I know you should check your pima mail regardless of wheather or not your currently enrolled....but I didn't....OOPSIE.... I could have gotten in a FULL semester earlier if I would have checked. I thought I was bumped completely from the program because it said so-and-so date or you will be bumped kinda thing. Anyway, PLEASE check your email even if your not enrolled in any classes. I wish I would have

In addition to the prior email....I recieved the email in July of 09....I was pretty miffed that they didn't send an actual letter because I wasn't checking my Pima...he told me I should be checking it twice a week, but honestly I wasn't even thinking of it because I was just waiting for my Nursing program to start.HTH's
I stayed on the list and didn't get bumped from the program I was originally in. I was terrified because a few months prior I saw a news broadcast (on KVOA I believe) about a girl getting bumped because she didn't respond to something, so I guess she went to the press about it.
Hi all, I just found out this page for AZ nursing students, and so excited to read all the threads about PCC.

Well I just applied for the PCC Nursing Program 10/2009 and got a seat date of Fall 2012. I really hope it is not that long. I cannot fathom waiting that long. Anyone have any insights or recent experience on getting called up sooner? Please give me some hope...........
