Piedmont College applicants 2014

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hello! I would like to start a new topic for the applicants to the nursing school in Piedmont College, 2014. I want to share ideas, progress, etc. in our path to the nursing career. Have fun :)

I have decided not to go to Piedmont. I cannot afford it. Originally, I pursued it because of the neighborhood grant program. But, I was informed that the nursing school is excluded from that program. I am going to see about North Georgia Tech & their ASN program. If I don't get in, I will just wait a year and reapply to the local public colleges. I am so heavy hearted. Good luck to all of you!

Piedmont is a great school and has tons of scholarship opportunities! I suggest talking with financial aid. The nursing program has a scholarship that really helps and if you can get pell and hope it will decrease the out of pocket tuition greatly!

Dwmoore is right. The neighborhood grant is excluded because they give you the school of nursing grant instead, which is about the same amount per semester as the neighborhood grant. I would check with financial aid before taking the decision to go to another school. I have a friend who is applying for NGTC, and she told me that they have 97 qualifying candidates this year and only 30 spots.

It might seem too early, but I started buying all my nursing school supplies from Amazon.com already. Last semester, I noticed that prices go up as the new semester approaches.

I'm hate to hear that mparker. I have recently been thinking alot about the costs, but I absolutely agree with the other girls. I would definitely apply everywhere else you can but also go in there and lay it all out on the line with financial aid. I'm sure they will be able to make it happen for you!

The nursing scholarship I was offered was 1,000 per semester. I am too old for hope. (39) and even with Pell I would be taking out loans in excess of 35,000 for tuition alone. I cannot imagine what the other costs would amount to, or where I would get the funds! I am heart broken. Piedmont is a great school.

How is it going for everyone? I'll be starting this summer, and I would like some pointers. Thanks!
