Alright, in the Fall I am going to USF and I know we're going to pick a hospital to do our rotations at. I am deciding on choosing between Tampa General, St. Joseph's, or University Community.
UCH would be 3 minutes away, St. Joe's-15, and TGH-19 (yes I looked this all up:)
The thing is, I can't decide if it's better to start big or go to a place closer to my dorm, or....Any tips/advice?
Thanks!!

I would go with Tampa General (I know it is the furthest) but the are a level I trauma center and get our pediatric burns (I work at All Childrens) and also have a ton of pediatric specialist. I just think you will see the craziest stuff and that could be a good learning experience. Good luck in your choice!

I agree! You will learn a lot at TGH.

We have a USF student working with us and she is assigned to UCH and says it's not very challenging and in fact boring. Pick St. Joe's or Tampa General, both large hospitals with lots of variety.
Also remember you don't always get what you want. Bayfront in Saint Petersburg is also not a bad choice as the learning experiences are more, but that is far away. I precepted a USF student on Wednesday who was assigned to Bayfront which wasn't his choice but is glad he came.
Good luck!

Well, Bayfront is my first choice, but I am moving FROM St. Pete TO Tampa so I can be closer to campus, so it would kind of defeat the whole purpose by driving twice a week to Bayfront, back to St. Pete.
My point was that this student was assigned Bayfront against his wishes, he didn't get any of his choices and he drives from Tampa. That would suck if you got assigned Bayfront after moving wouldn't it.
Perhaps though if you express UCH as a 3rd choice you'd get that before BMC.

I too would go with TGH, alot of my friends work there, they say that you will gain soooooo much there. Good luck!!
Well, I had orientation/match day today. My program got to choose between TGH, UCH, VA/Shriners/Moffit (as one), and Morton Plant/Mease. I put my top 4 in that order and wouldn't you know it? I got Morton Plant! aaaah. Now I have to drive 45 minutes away. I'm kind of bummed, but there's nothing I can about it.
Anyone heard good things about Morton Plant?
I've heard lots of good things about Morton Plant, I think you will have a good experience. It is kind of far to drive for USF, but oh well.
