Do any of you radiology nurses either insert picc lines under floroscopy or assist central line teams to insert picc lines under floroscopy. I would like to develop a protocol to allow both departments to work together to insert the picc's in a timely efficient manner. Any thoughts?

Hi Radnurse, I am a PICC nurse in a 900+ bed hospital. I insert 6-10 PICCs a day with US and fluro guidance. Im a true one man band and do everything from stocking to the insertion, run the images, do the paperwork etc. Id be happy to send you our "stuff" policies etc. You could also come and observe if you'd like-staff from other facilities have in the past. Just let me know what you need.

What are your hours; who is your boss; how do you get your patients; who backs you up if you are sick; what if you have trouble with an insertion-who backs you up? Our hospital is looking at something similar to what you do.

Where do you work? Is your US and flouroscopy your own or how do you share. What you do differently if you started the program again/:coollook: All insights are welcome. How could we contact you if we put a nurse into a similar position?

Could you send the information to me? I can be emailed at [email protected]. Thanks!
