Physiology review books??

Published

Hi, I am a student at TWU....actually back home in ks! I need some input on good physiology review books to use as a resource for study..thanks

Dr. Linda Costanzo is a physiology professor at Virginia Commonwealth University, and not only is she a wonderful lecturer, but she also has two extremely well written physiology texts that you should be able to find just about anywhere.

1. Physiology 3rd edition - Board review series: this is a very nice outline form for exam prep and review

2. Physiology 2nd edition - is a larger text, but cogently explains physiology in greater depth than the previous review book; it's nice when you don't want everything that Guyton has to say, but require something more than a review.

Together these two texts got me through medical physiology.

Also you may want to check out:

1. Heart Disease: A Collaborative Project of Medical Students and Faculty - Lilly: this is probably one of my favorite phys/patho books because of how well it's written (ie for the med student in mind), and although we aren't med students, many of us take the same physiology courses and them and are expected to own CV physiology for immediate recall. This book rocks!

1. Cardiovascular physiology (Lange) Mohrman and Heller

2. Pulmonary physiology (Lange) Levitzky

3. Vander's Renal Physiology (Lange) - Eaton and Pooler

Enjoy!

You aint lying bro, Linda's 2nd edition is worth it's weight in gold. Med students use this to refresh before boards. I read it cover to cover before I entered CRNA school and it did me right. I covers everything and in a great review format.

Specializes in MICU.

thanks for the good info - I printed this page and put it in the "CRNA to be" file
