Physiology Before Anatomy?

Published

Happy weekend, everyone!

I'm sure this question has been answered already somewhere, but I didn't find anything when I did a search. So, here's my question:

Has anyone taken physiology before taking anatomy (most of the schools here in the bay area offer the courses separately, not combined)?

I might need to take physio before, and just not sure that this makes sense. Let me know what you think! :)

Thanks,

K

The courses are separate at my school as well, and I took physiology first. It wasn't a real problem for me or the other people in my class, and it made anatomy seem a lot easier. One thing that I wasn't prepared for was the amount of chemistry in physio. I was taking chem at the same time so it worked out ok, but sometimes physio got ahead of chem and it was confusing! Good luck.

Ack - my chem is ten years old! Well, I guess I should brush up on it, huh? Thanks for your post! :)

My school offers Anatomy and Phys as seperate courses. I took Anatomy first (which worked well for me)... I suppose you could take phys first, but it was helpful to me to know where everything was located before learning how it worked. KWIM??

As far as chemistry goes... My chem is 10 yrs old too. I took phys prior to chem and I did just fine. There is a little bit of chem involved... mosting talking about bonding and stuff... but they usually do a review of the basic chemistry early in the textbook/semester and thats all you really need....

HTH's! Good luck!

when I first took physiology I took it before anatomy. my mistake was that as a part-time student I took it before chemistry. That should be illegal! I must have looked like a deer caught in front of some headlights because I was in a complete daze (having never taken chemistry before).

When I finally took chemistry it was all greek to me until I found a book at the library titled "chemistry made easy (or simple - can't remember which) and it saved my hinney!

good luck

I'd suggest taking anatomy first. I took anatomy in high school. Physiology definitely has more to do with chemistry, but anatomy sometimes covers a little of that too.

Anatomy seems like a good transition into physiology, especially for people who have had the bare minimum of science courses. It's easier to relate to anatomy because the subject matter is usually on a larger scale.

I would suggest Anatomy then Physiology to get a better all around understanding of how the systems work.

Good Luck you will do great !

Thank you for your feedback, everyone! I'm in a bit of a bind - not sure what to do, but I need to get A's, so I'm going to take what you say seriously!

Thanks,

K
