Physical, shots, background check....what to do?

Nursing Students General Students

Hey everyone! I was accepted into an ASN program at a technical school. This is there first RN class so its all very new for everyone. They haven't really sent us anything on how to get prepared, I've emailed everyone in charge of the program and they all tell me to wait until orientation on August 12th and 13th but I really want to get the ball rolling on things. What kind of tests and stuff are normal to have for nursing school? I know this is very broad but I just need some ideas on what to start on. I've made an appointment to get a physical, all of my shots are up to date. I've heard of people having TB tests, is that common? What about a background check? Drug screen??? Thanks in advance everyone!!

I wasn't taking any chances on my antiquated shot record (I'm 49). My record was in hand but ancient obviously so I had titers. The thing with certified background is that you think, Yay, I have all my my records, so you upload them to their website and three days later you get a "Rejected" message, then you may be scrambling like mad. I wasn't taking any chances. The titers are expensive though. And what a PP said about CPR...... my school also only accepts American Heart Association for Healthcare providers. So my Red Cross for Healthcare providers is worthless and I have to sit through CPR again. (And pay the fee, naturally.) And don't forget !! We had to upload to certified background a certificate of insurance for nursing student liability insurance. It's cheap though, only about 30 bucks a year.
